Senior Project Manager

Does your heart beat faster when you drive in the Rotterdam harbour between the huge terminals, looking at some of the most advanced industrial container terminals & plants in the world? Would you like to work with some of the biggest industrial automated equipment in the world as a Senior Project Manager? At TBA, we build the software to automate container handling equipment. We need YOU to manage the automation implementation at container terminals worldwide, based in our Rijswijk office (2 days per week in the office).

TBA Group is part of Konecranes. Our TBA head office is in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. We have several offices in Europe; the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Romania. TBA Group is world leading in the delivery of software and services for automated container & bulk terminals and warehouses.  

In the business line Operate, our main product is our TEAMS Equipment Control Software. We believe this is the only available automated equipment control system (ECS) able to operate reliably and efficiently for every type of available automated container handling equipment and in every combination of Terminal Operating System and container equipment. The system delivers significant benefits across operations, costs, safety, automation integration and efficiency under all operational terminal conditions. What are we looking for?

Project leadership and client guidance, you can do both. You are the go-to person for your clients. You understand technical & operational challenges, both externally and internally and are able to navigate these towards a successful software implementation. You can hold your own in a client environment and work with the client on planning, test management, risk management, deployment and terminal performance.

You are able to guide technical people in a process & results driven manner, to ensure consistent progress and success, and see the possibilities and impossibilities from the different stakeholders. You are able to look at the project long term and keep your cool in the face of day-to-day pressure.

  • Organize client located processes & resources for joint training, test & deployment activities  
  • 5 years experience managing complex projects
  • Ability to manage various stakeholders, internal and external
  • Managing your projects closely on scope, budget and time  
  • Previous exposure to project management methodologies
  • Client management & advisory skills  
  • Excellent writing skills in English language
  • Willingness to travel
  • About the role

    You will have a chance to be part of a huge turn in the terminal industry, as we foresee more and more automation in the container handling in the near future. You will be working on one to three software implementation projects, by delivering our TEAMS Equipment Control Software product. Typically, these are 2-3 year international projects, with a high level of complexity and a high number of stakeholders. Our software automates hundreds of workflows, while coordinating fleets up to100+ automated cranes & vehicles.

    Within the project you are the lead to give guidance to our product organization and the client, to manage the project in terms of progress, phasing, milestones and cooperation with equipment suppliers and other software suppliers. You organize, depending on the phase of the project joint test & deployment activities, and the resource planning for these tests. You ensure our product people can work with the client and the equipment supplier in a positive setting and bring the project activities to a next phase successfully.

    You celebrate success along the way and inspire and inform the broader organisation regularly on the project progress. You will work within the Business line Operate of TBA Group, in a small team of project managers. You will work alongside project managers of our mother company Konecranes responsible for the delivery of the equipment itself to clients.

  • Tracking the progress of projects and raising any concerns if necessary
  • Working with key stakeholder to solve any issues
  • Monitoring timescales, budget and scope
  • Supporting the team in any technical difficulties by having discussions and suggesting solutions
  • Being the main point of contact for the client on a daily basis
